Behind Win Ahead is Elias Mantinaos, a racing enthusiast from a young age.
Growing up, the only time my dad would take us out of our mum's hair was on Saturdays, when he would bring us to the Canberra racetrack, allowing us to roam free. As youngsters, we found it easy to locate him in the bustling betting ring. In the 1980s, our interests shifted from collecting betting tickets to realizing that collecting tin cans was more profitable. We would haul them into the back of the Valiant Regal boot to cash in later.
Despite the distractions, it was impossible not to notice the majestic thoroughbreds at the racetrack. My sister Renee, brother Michael, and I would each pick a number and watch as the horses were saddled, led into the parade ring, raced, and then cooled down in the wash bay. These were innocent times, but our childhood was marred by the sickness and passing of my sister Renee, and my parents' separation.
Amidst these challenges, my dad's modest investment in a racehorse in 1990 proved to be a turning point. That horse, Dodecanise, became a top performer. Dodecanise captivated me, not only as a magnificent animal but also as a symbol of hope during difficult times.
That fueled my passion to lead me to becoming a form student. Writing up tips for the racing post and landing a job as a full-time racing analyst for IASBET (Now under Sportsbet since 2009)
Then going onto a professional Punter with good success serving a young lifestyle and trips overseas.
That lifestyle changed with me settling down and starting a family with 3 loving kids. With the Family wanting something more stable I started a Road Construction business with my
business partner that still runs successful today.
But even with those extra responsibilities the passion never died and still punting, attending great race meetings and enjoying good times in horse ownership I never stopped participating in an industry that I love and has so much to offer.
With all these experiences and good times, I wanted others now to have a fully immersive
experience and enjoy the industry even though it may be tougher times others should not be left behind in missing out on the joys that could be had through the Thoroughbred Racing Industry
At Win Ahead Members Club, my goal is simple - to inspire, educate, and empower our
members to achieve fulfillment in their racing journey. Together, we'll embark on an
exhilarating ride filled with thrills, excitement, and endless possibilities.
